It's here, at last! All of the details for our charity autumn and spring Knitalong (KAL) 2019/20

We've decided to do a charity KAL and we will be making "comfort dolls" or "comfort teddy bears" for use by distressed or traumatised children.

"Comfort toys" have been used by paramedics, police officers and members of the military across the world. When they find a child in distress, the children are gifted one of these small toys which, it has been shown, affords them a level of comfort, albeit small, to enable them to cope better with whatever traumas they are facing.

Pottyroo's Ceramics and Crafts has made links with the "Renewed Hope Children's Village" (REHOCH) in Kitwe, Zambia, https://www.facebook.com/rehoch/ , which provides care for orphaned and vulnerable children and we have made a few prototypes of these small toys for the orphaned and vulnerable children there and we would like to make sufficient dolls for each of them.  We'd love as many members of Sticks and Hooks to join in and help us make some of these comfort toys and donate them either to "Renewed Hope" or locally to Lancashire Constabulary. Please let us know if you are interested in helping.

We hope you will enjoy this KAL as much as you have enjoyed our previous ones!

We have sourced boy, girl and teddy patterns - please click on the links below.

As we've said previously, these toys are going to be donated to the orphanage and to Lancashire Constabulary and there are collection boxes for them in the shop  Pottyroo's Ceramics and Crafts.

We recently held several workshops showing the delights of working with silkscreens on ceramic baubles.   Our students thoroughly enjoyed the experience, some making several pieces.  The baubles are not just for Christmas; you can add your favourite essential oils and make a scented pomander.

We will be holding more silkscreen workshops throughout the year. Keep your eyes on our events page for details

On 28 May 2017 we opened our new studio at 295 Marine Road Central, Morecambe.

Cllr Margaret Pattison very kindly gave us some of her valuable time and officially opened our studio for us.  Margaret is dedicated to her Morecambe constituency and does exceptionally industrious work for the local community, and like us, is passionate about Morecambe and all it has to offer.

We were also pleased to welcome the guys from the RNLI who also came to join us - these people are true heroes, risking their lives to keep us safe.

We are firm supporters of local and national charities. This year, our chosen charity is the RNLI, and 10% of the proceeds from the opening week will be donated to the local RNLI in support of their marvellous work.

A thank you too to everyone who came to support us on our opening day and our family & friends who have worked so hard in the background to help us make all this possible.
